Sebastian Coelho, who was on the other end of the phone, told me: ‘He thought it was cool that I was doing it, and he gave me the opportunity, because it was going to be very hard and he thought this is a great idea and he’s gonna do it.’ He said that he was like: ‘I gotta keep on top of it and see if this can work.’
The response has been positive. After you watch him shoot it you realise what an intense athlete he is – it’s only a matter of what the fans want to see. It’s a great thing for all of us to have someone so competitive, and it shows that he’s still got it as a performer.
With that being said he’s not a star when it comes to money. He’s made some money in the past, but most of the time his income comes from sponsors. He did make a lot of mistakes, like that one where he didn’t take the time to get a visa when he came to Ireland. Not going to lie, he could have done it much earlier to avoid having to come all the way back.
But now that he has made his debut, he’s on his own now, and he has the time and the freedom to concentrate on this. When he goes he will do what he does for a living, and he’s going to try and become a better person. He wants to become a more compassionate person.
Now he’s been making this move we’re going to see a lot more people follow in his footsteps, because this is a great opportunity that no-one else will give a chance, especially a kid with his talent. We’re all in a position now – if we want to get on, we have to put our talent where the marketing will take us.
I’ve never heard of someone that talented that’s going to go into boxing on the level that Sebastian Coelho will be. I’m glad it’s here and I’m hoping that he continues to do this so that all these kids will learn the fundamentals that he is getting as he’s growing more confident.
